Message from Mr. Marco Breschi, President of FAFICS, concerning the Corona Virus COVID19 and the scheduling of the next session of the FAFICS Council

03/18/2020

Dear Colleagues,

I am sure you are all aware of the critical situation for people living in many countries of the world as a result of the unfortunate spreading of the Corona Virus COVID19. The UN is taking safety issues associated with this new scenario very seriously and so is the UNJSPF. Many UN locations around the world are locked down with the majority of staff working from home. FAFICS and all our country associations are also closely monitoring developments internationally and at the local level.

In this connection, please let me express my best wishes to you, your families and colleagues. Please make sure that all take this situation very seriously.

We have been informed today that the invitation by the WMO to host the Pension Board in July has been withdrawn. The UNJSPF is currently considering options in terms of finding a new location and of course the possibility of postponing the session to a later date. Accordingly and until further notice, FAFICS is keeping the calling of the next session of its Council on hold.

I would like to stress that at this stage no reservations for flights or accommodation should be made (if at all possible anyway).

I would like to reassure all of you that the Secretary Mr Pierre Sayour and I, as well as my colleagues in the Pension Board delegation, are following the situation closely and will promptly inform you of any significant or urgent development.

My warmest regards to all of you.

Marco Breschi

President
