Tribute to Ed Seidler/FFOA

08/10/2025

Dear fellow retirees, friends and relatives,

We heard the sad news this morning. We know Ed was fighting his battle with great courage, strength and dignity.

Ed and I exchanged views on the occasion of the FAFICS Council last July. He was following this important event from home as he felt he could not travel to Vienna. I admired his commitment then as I have done throughout his tenure as President of FFOA.

In this capacity, Ed led us to become a stronger more effective association always with the interests and rights of retirees in mind. Thanks to his leadership, FFOA is now recognized by the Rome-based UN agencies and indeed by all our sister associations around the world as a reputable, reliable and relevant retiree representative.

Besides work, we often shared views on international politics and compared English and Italian political leaders. It was a lot of fun!!

Thank you for these enlightening conversations dear Ed. I will never forget.

Ed’s support to me as representative of FFOA in the wider contest of the UN Pension Board, was vital for me and I remain very grateful.

Ed was a leader, an outstanding professional, a friend, a decent man.

Rest in peace dear friend.

Marco Breschi
