Standing Commitee of Communication

One of the fundamental work areas of FAFICS is effective communication between all involved parties. Under this pillar, the following areas are covered:

Terms of Reference of The committee:

The Standing Committee on Communication (SCC) was established in the. 54th FAFICS Council in July 2024, following concerns raised by member associations and recommendations from the 52nd and 53rd FAFICS Council Sessions. It operates under the oversight of the FAFICS Bureau to enhance communication strategies and improve engagement with member associations. The committee’s objectives include:

  • Providing policy guidance and technical support for FAFICS’ communication strategy.
  • Collaborating with the Bureau and member associations to maintain and develop the FAFICS website.
  • Assisting member associations in their communication efforts.
  • Enhancing FAFICS’ visibility through advocacy materials and digital platforms.

The SCC is composed of 5 to 8 members, including three from the Bureau. Officers such as the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Rapporteur are nominated by the Bureau and appointed by the Council for two-year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Composition of the Committee:

The SCC consists of representatives from FAFICS member associations with expertise in communication and IT. The current composition includes:

  • Chairperson: Juan Antonio Casas Zamora (AFICS PANAMA)
  • Vice-Chairperson: Aye Win (AFICS-MYANMAR)
  • Rapporteur: Delia Barcelona (AFICS PHL PHILIPPINES)

Workplan (2024-2025):

August – September 2024: Establishment and Planning

  • Confirm appointments of SCC members.
  • Hold an initial virtual meeting to discuss priorities.
  • Engage with member associations to identify communication needs.
  • Develop a detailed work plan and present it to the FAFICS Bureau for approval.

September – December 2024: Implementation

  • Establish a Website Working Group and designate a Content Manager.
  • Coordinate with Quattro Medios Digitales for website updates.
  • Distribute the updated FAFICS brochure in English, French, and Spanish.
  • Establish regular communication channels such as quarterly bulletins.

January – March 2025: Monitoring and Adjusting

  • Monitor website improvements and ensure regular updates.
  • Assess communication channels and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Prepare a mid-year progress report for the FAFICS Bureau and Council.

April – June 2025: Expansion and Review

  • Promote website participation among member associations.
  • Expand communication efforts, including advocacy materials.
  • Conduct a year-end review and compile a final report with recommendations.

Activities:

The SCC has undertaken various activities to strengthen FAFICS' communication strategy. These include:

- Regular virtual meetings to coordinate efforts.
- Website development and maintenance.
- Distribution of newsletters and bulletins.
- Participation in advocacy initiatives to improve FAFICS' visibility.

- FAFICS Brochure - FAFICS website updates.
- Annual bulletin and President's newsletter.
- Regular advocacy materials.
- Reports on communication strategies and progress.

- Translation services to ensure multilingual accessibility.
